As I mentioned and also posted a week ago, I was luckily nominated and finally selected as one of Global Teen Leaders 2011, that had privilege to join Just Peace Summit 2011 in New York City this week. When I arrived at the hotel for the first time, I was welcomed warmly by the committee, and it brought me to the first impression that i would have such a great “family” here. Today is my fourth day in New York, and my comment is not changing. It always great to stay around of small number of committed young people around the world, who already did such a GREAT thing for their community and even the world. They all are totally awesome and fully inspire me! Can you imagine there is a 16 year old girl who already raised more than +10 millions USD for the good of the kids worldwide? or a 19 year old Yale student, well known as great violinist and composer who use his gifted talents for various philanthropy action that already raised +5 millions on health? or a teen filmmaker who uses his film to tell the world about various good causes? and I can mention other stories from other teen leaders to show how amazing they are.
Eventhough this is not my first impression to join conferences or trainings, but this summit seems to provide thousand spaces for me to learn about new things. We learn about something beyond plan of action or how to manage our projects. We are talking deeper on how to spread our words through various medias: like photos; films; social media, and so on. And the cool thing, we are not only learning, but also practicing! for example, we were trying to do photography assignments yesterday and then our photos were commented by experts. Such a valuable feedback.
We are not competing here, and we are not trying to see which one better or which one less. But we are here to learn each other, learn from best practices, and experts. We are here, because we believe that what we do (whatever they are) will contribute to world peace. Can’t wait to tell you more about this experience as soon as I am back.
Keep watching my blog!
